Happy Thanksgiving to all our US Rotarians, and a belated Canadian Thanksgiving to our Quebec Rotarians! November is definitely here, chill and all. As I just finished cutting up all my pumpkins to turn into a year’s worth of pies, it reminds me of the preparations we make for the celebrations we have. November, we celebrate our Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation continues to be a blessing around the world, and you make a big difference every time you give. We celebrated our giving at our Foundation Dinner on November 11th. It was wonderful hearing Mike McGovern and Brenda Cressey share stories of great people (like our own Harley Jordan) and the work that The Rotary Foundation does around the world. If you would like to learn more about the Foundation, please visit the learning center at My Rotary. Don’t forget that your club needs to certify to apply for a grant this year. The dates for the Foundation Training are in the schedule at the bottom of this newsletter.
My travels have taken me to Montpelier, Barre, Northfield, Williston, Waterbury, Mad River Valley at Warren, Morrisville, Randolph (two clubs), Hanover, South Burlington, and Drummondville. My Assistant Governors have been marvelous, and I always look forward to seeing them and all of you when I visit the clubs.

Alors que je viens de finir de couper toutes mes citrouilles , pour les transformer en tartes , pour un an, cela me rappelle les préparatifs que nous faisons pour les célébrations que nous avons.
En novembre, nous célébrons notre Fondation Rotary. La Fondation Rotary continue d’être une bénédiction partout dans le monde et vous faites une grande différence à chaque fois que vous donnez. Nous avons célébré notre don lors de notre dîner de fondation le 11 novembre. C'était merveilleux d'entendre Mike McGovern et Brenda Cressey partager l'histoire de personnes formidables (comme notre propre Harley Jordan) et le travail que la Fondation Rotary accomplit dans le monde. Our training on November 11th has been rescheduled to meet the needs of our clubs around the District. I am please to announce that we are bringing the training to you in 5 sessions so that we might attract more people with less travel time. The trainings will include youth services (RYLA, Youth Exchange and starting Interact/Earlyact clubs), secretary training, treasurer training, information about the Friendship Exchange, and working with Club Runner. Please see the schedule in the dates below.

The theme is “How Can we increase Hope in our Schools?” The club prize is $200 (please hold this by Feb. 20), Area prize is $300 (your AG will schedule this before March 14), and the District round 3 (March 16 in Lyndonville) is $500 for the 2 finalists. The Round 4 prize is $750 and $500 to the runner up. This will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at our District Conference at Lake Morey in Fairlee, VT. These are great experiences for our students, and good money as well!

Our District Executive Committee has been working on a revision to our District By-laws. The main change is to have better definitions, clearer job descriptions, financial clarifications for everyone, and also creating a Finance Committee Chair that is someone other than the DGE. We should be ready to vote on these bylaws at the business meeting during our District Conference. I will send the changes to all of you so that you are able to see the work we have done.
Speaking of the District Conference, I hope you will all come. We are putting the registration on the website, and an early registration will save you some money. Lake Morey in April is worth the visit. It is a great way to network with other Rotarians, have fun together, and hear some amazing speakers. The food is great there as well.

Le principal changement est d'avoir de meilleures définitions, des descriptions de poste plus claires, des clarifications financières pour tout le monde, et également de créer un président du comité des finances qui est quelqu'un d'autre que le DGE.
