District 1020 covers the East of central Scotland and Southern Scotland which includes the City of Edinburgh (the capital with numerous museums, shops and galleries), large towns like Livingston (a ‘new town’ started in the 1960’s), Dumfries, Falkirk etc.  East Lothian, Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway all have smaller towns of interest and many historical places and great inland and coastal scenery.

Exact dates have not been determined, but we plan to visit District 1020 in August 2023, to take in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and other festivals.  Edinburgh will be exceptionally busy, as there are also 3 world famous events taking place over this time: - the Edinburgh International Festival; the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.  We are planning a 3 day, 2 night stay, at our expense, to enjoy these events.

The official RFE will start after visiting Edinburgh. Guests being hosted in Dunbar, Dumfries and Eyemouth can easily slip over the Scottish/English border to visit Berwick, Carlisle etc.  Visits to Stirling, Glasgow, St Andrew’s (the home of Golf) and Dundee are also possible. Scotland also has some stunning Scottish countryside surrounding and within our District.  Hosts can discuss with guests whether a trip to the Trossachs, Scottish Borders or the Galloway coast can be undertaken at a suitable time.
